Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray has said that he has had some positive talks regarding players for next season.

The City boss told the Coventry Telegraph's Andy Turner: “I’ve had some positive talks.

“I met some players the other day, they know what I like and they have got a feel for me and I got a feel for them.

“Some of the players come to us, come to me or Mark Venus after playing at the top end of the Championship and yet they want to come to Coventry next season and I am thinking, hmmm...

“The agents generally know where we’re at with salaries and so I have had those conversations. Some of these players are coming from the Championship but are getting a bit older, probably have a property around here and may have even played for this club in the past and want to come back.

“It’s not black and white that I am going to say yes, of course, because they have to fit into what I do and the criteria here.

“There are other players who we have identified who we know are out of contract and we’ve spoken to the agent and had an opportunity to speak to the player face to face as well with one or two of them. But it’s early and they aren’t going to sign this week.”
