While there is uncertainty surrounding the future of Reda Johnson at Coventry City, Tony Mowbray has admitted he has spoken to former Wolves defender Sam Ricketts with a view to bring the experienced defender to the club.
Mowbray will have talks with the out of contract Reda Johnson later today.
Mowbray tried to sign Ricketts on loan last season, but the 33 year old opted to join Swindon instead.
Mowbray told Andy Turner of the Coventry Telegraph, “I have had a conversation with Sam over the summer to see what his thoughts are and what he’s doing.
“I would see Sam Ricketts, if he comes in, first and foremost as a leader, a good human being and a lad who captained Wolves in 43 games in a team that romped away with the first division title two years ago.
“So he’s a guy with leadership qualities and a good pro who brings versatility as well, of course, and could play in a good few positions for us.
“There’s still a little bit of work to be done on it but I have spoken to him.”
