“We’re obviously disappointed,” said Mowbray' “I know who I thought was the best team today but they scored two goals and we didn’t score any.

“If you don’t score you don’t give yourself a chance to win football matches though ultimately it was out inability to defend that cost us today.“We’ve been there before this season – it wasn’t good enough at both ends of the pitch. We had some chances to score but you give yourself a mountain to climb when you go behind like that.

“It’s a young team – I can’t keep making that an excuse but we need some time to work with them. It’s a brand new team and there are aspects that are good but aspects that are falling short at the moment.

“I hope we’ve got some decent footballers that can win games in this league but it’s a difficult task if you concede goals like we did today.

“That’s the ninth game in 27 days so we’ve basically been picking the team, sending them out and trying to gell together as we go along.

“We’ve lost three games away and only scored one goal so that doesn’t give you a chance.”
