Mowbray: Hopefully, We'll Get A Striker In Over Next Few Weeks

Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray has said that he is hoping to get a striker in over the next few weeks.

“It’s staring us right in the face that we’re short on front players and creativity,” said Mowbray to the Coventry Telegraph's Andy Turner.

"All my conversations with other football clubs and managers at the moment are around the availability of players in that area to see if there is anyone good enough to come and help us.

“And hopefully we can find the right ones that can give us some energy, some speed, power and goals, of course, and try to find the balance of those players.

“We are talking to several clubs and I would hope we’ll get one over the next few weeks.

"The issue we have, of course, is that Premier League clubs and some Championship clubs generally go away to America or the Far East and they may also have internationals who have played in the Copa America and not due back for another two weeks yet.

“So it’s not until these clubs get back from tours that they allow the young players to go out and play some games.

“In an ideal world clubs wouldn’t have such a transient workforce because we can’t keep getting rid of 14/15 players every summer and bring in another 14 or 15.

"You have to get to the point where you believe in a group of footballers and give them more than a one year deal. You put some faith in them and as we move forward hopefully that’s what we’ll do.”
