Mowbray: Hopefully Agyei Has Goals In His Boots

Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray has said that hopefully latest loanee Danny Agyei has goals in his boots.

Mowbray told the Coventry Telegraph at this lunch-time's press conference about the striker who is on loan until January: "Agyei is powerful, fast, strong - and hopefully he has goals in his boots. He came to my attention when I got a match report from one of the scouts I put the most trust in.

“They highlighted Dan in a pre-season game. We liked what we saw, followed it up and spoke to Sean Dyche.

“He and players like Armstrong aren’t gambles. They’re young, and the onus is on them to test themselves and make an impact.

“Daniel is on that journey, he’s trained today and we’re awaiting final registration, but he and Turnbull will be travelling with the group and let’s see how we go.

“Comparing Agyei to Armstrong is a burden. The test and the challenge for him is to test himself in a man’s league at a man’s game with things at stake. Can be build a reputation? We’ll give him his chance and if he performs well his stock will increase.

“We’ll see how he’s integrating. We haven’t left him in a hotel on his own all the time. He’s in an apartment with another footballer and he needs to integrate into the club and the area as quickly as possible. Hopefully he settles and does what natural comes to him - score goals.”

“Agyei isn’t a target man. He’s mobile and he can travel with or without the ball. Let’s see how he does. He needs to work his way in and around the team.”
