Mowbray Determined To Get The Best He Can

Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray has said that he is determined to get the best players he can for City.

The City boss told the Coventry Telegraph's Andy Turner: “If there was any frustration early on because we weren’t signing new players it was because you have to spend the budget very wisely and if you spend it on the wrong players or find out they are the wrong personalities, not quite as dominant, quick or what you thought they were going to be you are stuck with them and that money is not there to be spent again.

“That’s why we’ve taken our time to watch them and listen to people who have worked with them in the past.

“Hopefully a year down the line we’ll have many reports from people in our scouting department who will know what players are like on a cold Tuesday night at Fleetwood compared to in the sunshine on the opening day against Wigan.

“Because sometimes over the course of ten months footballers can show you all different characters and that’s why I have always believed in scouting departments because you get a much broader picture of the player you are going to sign; his good days and bad days and how he reacts to defeat, coming back from injury or whatever it is.

“So we’re trying to do our due diligence on the footballers we’re trying to sign to cut down the risk factor as much as possible.”
