Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray has said that he is delighted for James Maddison who came on to hit the winner for the Sky Blues against Port Vale.

Maddison came on with eighteen minutes remaining and seven minutes later, scored with a twenty yarder to give the Sky Blues a 1-0 win.

Speaking about him to the Coventry Telegraph, Tony Mowbray said: “James is working his way back.

“We talked about his programme, said that we’d maybe give him 20 minutes or half an hour today and perhaps start at Chesterfield.

“He’s a bit of a magnet to the ball and when it lands with him he can spin both ways, take it off both feet and unbalance people and he showed that he can hit the target when he wants to shoot.

“He’ll be buzzing because he’s that sort of boy – very high energy.

“But James is a very sensible lad, he’s seen what happens when players move on too early, and I think he’s happy to stay here he’s respected and where he can continue his development. I’m not too worried about that.”
