Mowbray Could Off-Load Players

Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray could be offloading more players, following the departure of loanee Luke Williams.

Speaking to Andy Turner of the Coventry Telegraph, Mowbray said: “If somebody is better than what we’ve got and we can get them on loan they come in and the others drift aside – that’s how it has to be.

“We’re at a pretty critical stage; look at the stats, look at the results – if something doesn’t change quickly we are going to be in real trouble.

“It’s difficult, particularly if teams are fighting for promotion or relegation because where you can go for players is quite limited. There are fees attached to loan players, you have to pay their salaries, and ideally for the club we don’t want to bring in more expense on top of the expense they’ve got.

“I’ll talk to those players who might be disenchanted if they’re not in the 18 – talk to them man-to-man, explain it’s not personal.

“Would you rather be back home eating your mum’s breakfast, playing for the under-21s or sitting in a hotel room, away from the people you love, doing extra running because you’ve missed the game?

“That’s how it works. If I’m not playing them they have decisions to make as long as both clubs can agree.”
