Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray has said that he knows James Maddison has got talent.

Speaking about the youngster, who was watched by a number of scouts this season, Mowbray said to the Coventry Telegraph's Andy Turner:  “He understands why he’s being dropped in and dropped out because, looking at some of the young players at the football club, it appears to me that they’ve been exposed a little bit too soon.

“You have to manage young players very carefully and we shouldn’t be burdening him with having to go out there and win us football matches.

“There are things he needs to work on to become a more complete footballer – winning headers and tackles, not losing the ball in dangerous areas – but his talent shins like a beacon.

“He’s confident because he knows he’s got that talent. There will come a stage where you won’t be able to leave him out of the team and then he’ll go out there and grab games by the scruff of the neck.
