Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray has said that City are close to signing Martin Lorentzson but the deal has not been done yet.

Mowbray told the Coventry Telegraph's Andy Turner: “He hasn’t signed but I think we’re getting pretty close to doing a deal,” said Mowbray, who revealed he’s also focusing his attention on finding a big centre-half to replace Cardiff loan man Ben Turner in January.

“I can’t say we’ve done a deal because there are so many little things need addressing, particularly being a foreign player.

“But if it’s going to be done it needs to be done quickly because in my mind we have a two-week period to get him fitter than he is at the moment, get him on the training pitch and working to get up to speed and in contention to play in our team.

“The longer it goes without doing a deal the less likely it’s to happen. If it happens in the next few days he’s another defensive option for us.

“He’s a right full-back and it releases Sam Ricketts to be a centre-half if and when we need it which gives us a bit more cover in a position we’re particularly short.”
