Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray has said that Joe Cole might be persuaded to stay at the Sky Blues next season if they get promoted.

The City boss told the Coventry Telegraph's Andy Turner about Joe Cole:

“My discussions with Joe have been around let’s wait and see where we are,” revealed the City boss.

“I think Joe would love the opportunity to test himself in the Championship if that opportunity comes along, but he does have options abroad.

“Bottom line, let’s wait and see because he has to make the right decision for Joe Cole and his family, and I think he will make it on that basis.

“I don’t know what his thought patterns are, only he will know that and I am sure he will be discussing that with his wife. He has got small children and I am sure he will do what’s right for them.

“He might not want to face another year in League One but if we were to get promoted he might quite fancy the challenge of the Championship; I don’t know.

“I’d have to say his options abroad are pretty appealing and I am sure a lot of people would fancy them; an amazing place to live etc but as I have said to him, let’s focus on the last 15 matches and our games and then we can talk about it.

“If we don’t make it I am pretty sure what his decision will be but if we do make it then there’s a conversation to have and decision to be made.”
