Coventry City manager James Maddison has said that he wants to watch James Maddison flourish.

Speaking about Maddison, who has come out of City's Academy, in to the first team reckoning this season, Mowbray told the Coventry Telegraph's Andy Turner: “In my mind I needed to see him training with us for a period of time so he could listen and learn; to be in our team meetings and listening off the bench to my comments because young players need to understand the demands of the positions where they play.

"Sometimes it’s easier to do that when you’re not in the team, particularly for young players.

“So he knows about work ethic, he knows about playing between lines and getting back behind the ball out of possession and I am pretty sure he will do all that.

“He seems a very conscientious boy, obviously very talented and the bigger picture for me is to get him in the team on a regular basis and watch him flourish.

"And hopefully he’ll help our team become a little bit more creative in the final third and help the team score more goals.”
