Mowbray - Football Is Getting More Crazy By The Week

Last updated : 09 February 2016 By CNS Sport

Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray has said that football is getting more crazy by the week.

Speaking after Derby County sacked Paul Clement, to the Coventry Telegraph's Andy Turner, Mowbray said: “I just can’t get my head around where football is going. “It’s just a crazy, crazy world.

“It was such a shock because I hadn’t looked at a computer for two days and I thought it was some sort of joke. They’re fifth in the Championship; unbelievable!”

“It took me four hours to drive down this morning, I set off at 5.30am and you get to half seven and the roads are just clogged up everywhere but that’s football and they’re the choices you make.

“I could have sold up, moved to Coventry and brought my family down the road but it’s football management and it’s even more in focus today.

“I didn’t see any sports news for the last few days because when I’m at home I am generally spending time with my boys and when I switched on the computer for the first time I saw Paul Clement had been sacked and it was just unbelievable.

“I know he’s spent a lot of money but eight months in after they have shown a commitment to a guy who has been at Real Madrid with Ancelotti, been at Chelsea with Mourinho!

“So it puts football management into real focus for me and what’s important is my family and the people who care about me rather than this amazing world of social media where everyone knows your job better than you.

“I don’t know the owners there and the people that make the decisions but I am sure Derby fans all over the world would have been telling Paul what he was doing wrong, that he picked the wrong team, should have been zonal marking or had men out wide; all different scenarios.

“It’s just a crazy job football management and it’s becoming more crazy by the week."
