Mowbray - Any Victory Is Important

Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray has said that any victory is important.

Speaking to the Coventry Telegraph's Alan Poole, Mowbray said:  “It’s a squad game and we have to find the right balance. Frank wasn’t as potent as he was the other night and young Dominic found it difficult against some experienced defenders so we changed it around.

“Odelusi made a difference when he went on; he stayed with the ball, he was positive and ultimately he got into the box to score.

“Ward brings a different ingredient to our midfield; he’s more combative than, let’s say, young Barton. He’s a nice footballer but Ward brings a more dynamic personality to the team and we need a tougher centre.

"Any victory is important. After the first 20 minutes, when we were very competitive, we kept giving them the ball back and if you do that they just keep coming at you. That’s why we conceded so many corners.

“There were flashes today – one great move in the first half when there must 15/20 passes and Frank was running through on his own but the boy just got a touch to it. It will come - bit by bit – and hopefully somewhere down the line we’ll be a good football team who are confident to come to places and know that we can dominate the game with the ball.

“At this moment that’s not the case but we still have that threat which is good.”
