The game at Wrexham on July 31st announced yesterday, has taken the total number of public matches that Coventry City have lined up for this pre-season to nine.
The last time City played nine matches in pre-season was back in 2002 when Gary McAllister and Eric Black's side played five matches in Germany starting with a 6-0 win at SV Neusorg followed by a draw at Aalen and a win at Auerbach and then a mini tournament in Nuremberg.
Returning to England, City won at Scunthorpe, drew with Dundee United at Highfield Road and then won at Port Vale and Rushden & Diamonds.
However nine is not the most pre-season games, City have ever had. In 1984, City had ten pre-season games including a tour of Finland, two games in Scotland at Devrondale and Brechin City and trips to Carlisle and Newport, winning eight and losing two matches, one against a Finish national side and the other a 2-1 defeat at Carlisle United, whom City will be playing in League One this season.
