Coventry City will face either Bradford City, Crewe or Bury/Preston in the Johnstones Paint Trophy Semi Final which is likely to be played on Tuesday January 8th.
The Sky Blues needed a 4-1 win on penalties with Gary McSheffrey, David McGoldrick, Carl Baker and John Fleck scoring after a 1-1 draw to get past Sheffield United whilst second half goals from Jones and Forsyth gave Bradford City who are also doing well in the League Cup, a 2-0 win at Port Vale.
Crewe Alexandra also required penalties in their Quarter-Final against Doncaster Rovers at Gresty Road. Crewe had led thanks to a 45th minute Pogba goal but in second half stoppage time, Rovers equalised through Brown to take the tie to penalties which Crewe won 5-3.
The Bury versus Preston game was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
The Semi-Final draw is expected to be on Saturday on Soccer AM
