Former Coventry City striker Robbie Simpson has joined MK Dons.

The striker who was released by Exeter City, has signed a short term contract with the League Two club who are managed by his former boss Paul Tisdale.

I’m really pleased and excited to join,” Simpson told mkdons.com. “I know Tis and Matt Oakley very well so it was a no brainer for me to work with them again.

"This is a great club that unfortunately hasn’t had the best of times in recent years. I’m really looking forward to playing a part in getting the Club back on the right tracks and where it belongs.

“I feel I can definitely bring some experience to the side. Having met the squad, we have some really talented players and hopefully my experience can help to bring the best out of them.

“I’m a versatile, hard-working player who will look to make a big contribution in whatever way I can.”

Former Coventry City midfielder Aron Gunnarsson has signed a new one year deal with Cardiff City.

The 29-year-old, who left City in 2011, was out of contract after representing his country Iceland at the World Cup in Russia.

"It's taken a little while, but it's definitely been worth the wait," Gunnarsson said of his new contract on Cardiff's club website.

"I always wanted to stay and I told the gaffer (Neil Warnock). Even though I didn't say much in the news, I just wanted to do my job on the pitch.

"It was tough work to get back, ready to represent my country at the World Cup, and for Cardiff City.

"Now, signing this deal has been my number one priority and I can't wait to meet back up with the boys."
