Mifsud Plays In Malta Defeat

Coventry City striker Michael Mifsud played for 83 minutes in Malta's 4-0 defeat to Norway.
In this Euro 2008 Qualifying Group C game at the Ulleval in Oslo, Mifsud had two chances in the first half either side of Kristofer Hæstad's 31st minute header from a Bjørn Riise cross to give the Norwegians the lead.

With the game in the second half, Norway doubled their tally with Thorstein Halstead turning home a low Bjorn Riise cross in the 73rd minute,seconds after coming on for Aston Villa's John Carew. Six minutes later, Iversen added a third. With seven minutes left, Mifsud who did not have an effort on goal in the second period was replaced by Barbara.

Deep in stoppage time, Age Heride's side wrapped up a good win when Liverpool's John Arne Riise added a fourth to keep Norway's hopes of qualification alive.

Craig Bellamy played for Wales in a 0-0 draw with the Czech Republic at Cardiff. The game was noted for the retirement from international football of Ryan Giggs.
