Mifsud On The Mark

Former Coventry City striker Michael Mifsud scored for Malta tonight in their European Championship Qualifying defeat against Croatia.

Mifsud scored in the 38th minute of the match at the T'Qali Stadium in Valetta after previously missing two chances.

The goals came after Croatia had taken a two goal lead through Vukojevic (11) and Badelj (32). 

There were no further chances for Mifsud in the second half as Croatia re-asserted their control to run out 3-1 winners thanks to Lovren adding a third in the 68th minute

Mifsud did have a goal ruled out for offside and was Malta's only goal threat before being substituted in the 82nd minute.

Robbie Keane played for the Republic Of Ireland in their 0-0 draw with Slovakia in Dublin . Keiren Westwood was an unused substitute.

Craig Bellamy was booked and will miss the game versus England on Tuesday at Wembley in Wales 2-1 win over Montenegro.
