Mifsud Booked On Debut

Michael Mifsud was booked on his Barnsley debut. The Maltese international has been loaned to Barnsley for the rest of the season by Coventry City and made his debut at Sheffield Wednesday tonight.

Barnsley won the game 1-0 thanks to a 38th minute Jamal Campbell- Ryce goal. The defeat for Wednesday means that Coventry are now a point behind them in fourteenth place.

At the bottom, Watford pulled themselves out of the bottom three with a 2-0 win against Swansea City.

Plymouth boss Paul Sturrock is facing calls for his head after The Pilgrims were beaten 3-1 at home by Crystal Palace. He said to the BBC after the game: "I am here until I am told otherwise. In the Southern League Midland Division, it was another defeat for Leamington as The Brakes lost 2-1 to Aylesbury United. Jackson scored for Jason Cadden's side who are now casting their eye on how Nuneaton and Atherstone are catching them.

Nuneaton are twelve points behind and have three games in hand after a 2-0 home win against Romulus. Former City reserve teamer and now Academy Coach Mark Noon was one of the Boro scorers.

Atherstone are also twelve points behind with four games in hand after they beat Dunstable Town 2-1 at Sheepy Road. Former Sky Blue Tom Bates was on target for the Adders.

Bedworth United lost 2-0 at Malvern Town.

In the Midland Alliance, Stratford Town won 2-0 at Racing Club Warwick with goals from Blair and Faulds.

In the Midland Combination Premier Division, Coventry Copsewood won 2-1 at Cadbury Athletic with goals from Luke Williams and PJ Gordon.

Nuneaton Griff are through to the Coventry Telegraph Cup Final at the Ricoh Arena. They needed an 8-7 win on penalties after the game at Coventry Copsewood finished 1-1.
