Speaking to the CET, Managing Director Paul Fletcher has said that Micky Adams will have the final say on whether Gary McSheffrey joins Birmingham City.
Said Fletcher: "I don't know whether Birmingham will come back in again. But lets hope they don't come back as we want to keep Gary McSheffrey and then we can all get on with our lives.
"At the end of the day the manager has to make decisions and his only criteria is 'will this decision help us get back into the Premiership?'
Micky Gets The Final Say
"It is a tough decision. We had a Fans Forum the other night and a show of hands to what would happen if they offered £5m,£6m or £7m, hands were going up and down so everyone is undecided and it is a difficult situation. If Gary is part of Micky's plans then he will stay and that's that.
"There is a basic principle that you don't get promotion by selling your best players and yet there is another one that says if a player becomes unsettled and wants to leave then that changes the situation.
"Situations like this can be very unsettling and what you do is employ a good manager to sort it out. That's what we are waiting for Micky to do and I have full confidence that he will do."
McSheffrey missed the game last night at Nuneaton with a calf strain but should be available for the trip to Notts County on Sunday.
Covsupport are backing calls for the Sky Blues not to do any deals with Birmingham City that involve a cash advancement and then add-ons such as money after a player has played a certain amount of games.
We feel that the history of deals for players involving Birmingham City has always seen the Sky Blues come off worse and whilst we would prefer Gary not to be sold full stop, any fee should be straight cash up front,so that Micky Adams can have the funds available immediately in order to obtain a suitable replacement.
