Former Coventry City player and manager Micky Adams wants to become a director or Port Vale FC so he can sort out player contracts and sign new players.

An EGM on Wednesday at Vale Park, left the Potteries based club with only three directors after a vote of no confidence was given to the current board.

In order for a club to sign players etc, they need four board members and Adams has put his name forward to fill the gap.

Adams, who made no secret of the fact that he is a millionaire during his time at Coventry City also is reported as planning to invest £50k of his own money to buy shares in the club and then try and get the 50% vote from shareholders that he needs to join the board, when legal formalities permit.

Adams, is quoted as saying: "This is a purely footballing decision because, as it stands, the club does not have a full board of directors and this is blocking the normal operation of the club, particularly our preparations for the new campaign.

"I am waiting to extend contracts for existing players and to sign new players, and this can't take place until the minimum number of directors (four) is in office."
