Michael Hughes has admitted that he is ambitious to take Coventry City forward. Speaking to the CT, The 35 year old Northern Ireland international said: "I want success, I want promotion, full stop. "I wouldn't have come here otherwise - I would have called it a day if I didn't think there was anything left for me to do.

"I am ambitious, why not? "I speak to big Arjan De Zeeuw and he's older than me and was in the Premiership last season, so that's someone for me to look up to and think he was there last year, why can't we be there next year."

"Promotion is achievable. It is not some far flung dream. "This league, believe me, is a tough league physically but quality wise, it is not great. "And if you can put a little run together and get a little bit of confidence and consistency you are half way there.

"You need 11 players doing their job, ten outfield willing to accept the ball and wanting to play. "We do a lot of football here where Iain likes to get the ball down and pass it, so that's something we work on.

"I have been really impressed with my new team-mates, I have to say. "I have been made to feel so welcome by the guys and it has been really good. "Even the young kids have got a hunger and all want it here, and you can feel an excitement about the place.

"I am genuinely excited and enthusiastic about being at Coventry because I believe something good can happen here this season."
