Gary McSheffrey has said that he was touched by the reception given to him by Coventry City supporters on Tuesday night at Scunthorpe United.

The Cov Kid, who continues to support a number of projects and charities in Coventry,  was cheered by the City support throughout the game and got a standing ovation when he was replaced nine minutes from time.

McSheffrey, who applauded the City support as he left the pitch told the Coventry Telegraph's Andy Turner: .“It was really nice..

“You always get a few that don’t but, in general, right throughout my career they’ve been good to me and I will be forever indebted to them for that.

“We’re a city that knows our football and appreciates what players do for their home town or their club, so it was nice.”
