McSheffrey Starts Mind Games Ahead Of Leeds Visit

Coventry City's in form striker Gary McSheffrey has had a pop at Leeds United manager Simon Grayson ahead of the visit of his team to The Ricoh on Saturday.

McSheffrey and team mate Michael Doyle, spent part of last season on loan at Leeds and both players were heavily tipped to be offered permanent deals, but in the end Grayson rejected both players. Doyle returned to Coventry and McSheffrey returned to Birmingham before making the move back to his home town club Coventry City.

McSheffrey, who made 11 appearances for the Yorkshire club, scoring just one goal, has made an attack on the management style of Grayson ahead of Leeds' visit and believes that Grayson did not want to sign any players that had been on loan at Leeds when they went through a poor run of form.

McSheffrey said to the CT: "They had first dabs on me to stay there. Michael Doyle played (52) games for them last year and I think the first two signings they should have made in the summer were me and Doyler, but Simon Grayson and his staff didn't want me. It's as simple as that."

"I haven't spoken to him since I left, which I find a bit disappointing on a man to man basis. You expect better man management really, a bit more respect, but that's all in the past now and there are no sour grapes."

McSheffrey has recently found the form that made him a fans favourite during his first time at Coventry City. He is currently the club's leading scorer with four goals.
