Coventry City defender Rod McDonald said there was no need to risk Liam Kelly who missed the defeat at Accrington Stanley through injury.

Kelly picked up a knock during the draw at Barnet and was not risked by Mark Robins who gave Ben Stevenson an outing instead.

Speaking to BBC Coventry & Warwickshire, McDonald said about Kelly: "Liam Kelly has had a little kick on his ankles but we have got two games coming up so there was no need to risk him.

"We have got the likes of Ben Stevenson coming in, who can do a good job, so it was best not to play Kells in case it got worse."

McDonald admitted that scoring goals away from home is a bit of a problem for City and said: Scoring has been a bit of a problem for us lately but soon enough it will start to click.

"We see them (strikers) every day and we know they can score goals, but sometimes on a Saturday it can be tough.

"We have just got to stay positive and the goals will come."
