Massive three weeks says Thorn

Coventry City manager Andy Thorn has said the  three week run in to the start of pre season training are "massive" for the club.

During the three weeks until the players return on July 1st for pre-season training, Thorn and Steve Waggott are working hard to get in new players, but are frustrated by the embargo.

Thorn, who returned from a family holiday last week, had hoped the embargo would have been lifted by the time he returned to work.

Thorn and Waggott have said they have players ready to sign for the club, but until the embargo, which was enforced because the accounts have not been filed, no signings can be made and the longer the embargo is in place, the more likely the players will make alternative arrangements.

Thorn told the CT's Andy Turner: “I’ve had a week away with the family but you don’t really switch off.  I was hoping the embargo would have been lifted by the time I got back but there is a lot of hard work going on behind the scenes to get that done.

"From my point of view I want to crack on and get people in so it’s a massive three weeks for us. I have talked about freshening things up, which is needed to be done, and the sooner we can get stuck into the task ahead the better.

“I know what’s needed and I want to be able to do it, to be able to affect it and that’s why from my point of view the sooner the embargo is lifted the better. It’s all very well having players sat there waiting but we know what it’s like, they can sit and sit and if you are not careful they will end up going somewhere else, which I don’t want to happen.

“We’ve done all the preparation. Steve Waggott and I have worked really hard on it and we’re just waiting to get them in.

"I’m assured it’s all being taken care of and we can’t wait because I am itching to get going and it will be the first time I have had chance to freshen things up and if we do that we’ll have a right good chance and even come back stronger.”
