Marshall was released by Chris Coleman at the end of last season and joined the Premier League club as cover. However, he has suffered with an ankle injury and missed much of the season.
Speaking to Villa's official club website, Marshall said: "Since I joined the club, playing has been fantastic but the lay-off has been horrendous. The thing that kept me going were the lads at the football club. They are a great bunch, a fantastic bunch. All the lads get on really well. We have a good camaraderie between us."
"It's a case now of being able to play as many of the remaining reserve fixtures this season and take it from there. That's all I can do now.
The main thing is I am on the road to recovery. I have been training a few weeks and I have worked hard. Now I hope things will come together."
