The 19-year-old forward has been signed on an initial one month loan deal after impressing during a recent trial period at Highfield Road.
"Darryl is only 19 but he's shown things that interest me," Sky Blues boss Eric Black told the club's official website.
"A loan spell will give him a bit more comfort of being part of Coventry and hopefully he can then show that he wants to be taken on longer than that.
"For a young man to come in and work with the first team like he has I think he has done very well."
