Make Your Mind Up Time For Lorentzson

Swedish full back Martin Lorentzson has forty eight hours to make his mind up as to whether he wants to join Coventry City or not.

Tony Mowbray told the Coventry Telegraph's Andy Turner:  “It will either get done in the next day or two or it’s off.

“I think we’re nearly there but sometimes third parties can interfere and sorting out all the fine details is starting to annoy me a bit. We're pushing on with it but it can get to the point where enough’s enough and you move on and look somewhere else.

“I had a man-to-man with the boy and said ‘make sure you’re making the right decision’ because we wouldn’t want him coming over here and having regrets.

"But he’s made that decision and he was very positive about coming over here and giving it a go.

“It’s such an opportunity for a lad who’s a different type of full-back than what we’ve got.

“I don’t see him getting straight in the team – he has to get himself up to speed so he’s ready if and when the opportunity comes and he knows he might never break in because the team might continue to do well and we avoid further injuries.

“But we’re trying to cover that part of the pitch because we’ve got plenty of options in the final third but we need more in the defensive third.

“Reda Johnson’s out for the rest of the season, we’ve only got Ben Turner on loan, and with Jordan Willis we’re talking about the middle of January, something like that.

"We’ve got six and seven games between then and they’re all important – we can’t sit here thinking ‘well, we’ll be back to full strength then and we’ll still have plenty of games left'.

“After that when I look at my bench at the moment you’re taking about kids out of the youth team.

“They might be OK but not while we’re competing at the right end of the table. It’s no good saying to our fans, ‘yes we did drop away in the second half of the season but we blooded three of four players and it was great for them'.

“We have to try to keep this momentum going so we need to thicken out the squad a little and there’s an opportunity to bring in an experienced player who I think is talented enough to help the squad moving forward.”
