As expected, former Coventry City loanee Gary Madine has joined Carlisle United on loan.

The striker, now out of prison after serving four months for assault, has gone from Sheffield Wednesday to Carlisle for the rest of the season on an emergency loan deal.

Speaking about his move, Madine told the Carlisle News And Star: I regret a lot of things I have done but I am a grown-up now.

"Maybe [prison] was a blessing in disguise - I got carried away with myself in my younger days and I'm hoping it's all behind me now and I can be a better person.

"I'm really grateful to have another chance to get my career back on track.

"I know the club's in a bit of trouble at the minute in the relegation zone so hopefully I can score a few goals and help them.

"I'm so happy to be here and I'll give 110 per cent."
