James Maddison has said that he is now ok to start for Coventry City.

The Cov kid had been out since Boxing Day due to a fracture in his back.but is now playing again and he told the Coventry Telegraph: "I actually had a little fracture in my back.

“It was frustrating because I couldn’t do anything apart from rest for a few months.

“I lost a little bit of fitness but I was still able to use the bike, although it’s not the same as match fitness you get in games and training. But I feel I have got my legs back now and I feel I could get through 90 minutes.

“I’ve come on in three games and I think I’ll be OK to start now. I’m like everyone else, I want to get in from the start and show everyone what I am about, but I’m also happy coming off the bench and making an impact.

“The manager wants me to get on and play in behind the striker, get in between the midfield and the defence if there’s a lot of space in there.

"He likes me to take it on the back foot and run at the defence and get us forward up the pitch rather than being pinned back like, for example, when we were 1-0 up on Saturday, and try to get a second goal, which I nearly did.

“It was a good save from the keeper. I turned the defender and had a shot on my left foot and I thought it was in. I was already celebrating but it wasn’t about that, it was about getting three points.

“Because I like to be on the ball a lot I think players do tend to get a bit annoyed at that and often get frustrated.

“But I think I have a good knack of being clever and I like to think I have quite a good football brain to win free-kicks. If there’s nothing on I might buy a cheap one but it’s not diving, it’s being clever by getting your body in and letting them foul you.

“When I am in the box I am not looking to win a penalty or a free-kick on the edge of the box. I am just happy to stay on my feet and try to score a goal but if a defender goes in for a challenge I don’t have to jump out of the way. And I feel I am good at taking free-kicks and want to stick it in the top corner.”
