Maddison - I'm Not Going To Change

Coventry City's James Maddison has said that he is not going to change the way he plays.

Maddison back after four months out with injury told the Coventry Telegraph: “I’m not going to change.

“I like to see myself as a more attacking player but if I have got to go and do a job for the team and smash someone in the tackle then I am happy to do that as well.

“I have watched the tackle back a few times and I think I just had a loose touch, which is unlike me because my touch is usually quite tight.

“So I was facing a 50-50 which I was happy to go in for because I know that playing in this league the gaffer wants me to go smashing into those tackles.

“It’s not something I enjoy doing but you have to do it for the team and on this occasion it was just unfortunate that I got injured. It was bad luck if I am honest and if I had to do it again I would probably still go into the tackle.

“It’s one of those things and it happens in football. Because of the way I play I am going to have to take a few knocks in my career but I am happy to take the kicks and go in for tackles because it’s part of the game.

“It was great to be back out on the pitch.

“The way I play I like to tease tackles and it’s part of playing in League One so I am happy to take those kicks.

“The result wasn’t what I was looking for but it is nice to be playing again with the lads and feeling good."
