According to The People, former Coventry City midfielder Kevin MacDonald is in the running to become the next manager of Blackburn Rovers.

MacDonald, who has been Aston Villa's temporary manager as well as reserve team and youth team coach, has not been ruled out by Blackburn's global advisor Shebby Singh who told The Mail: "Those two names (Judan Ali and Kevin MacDonald) were never mentioned by me but I will defend Kevin MacDonald.

"He's a great coach, he's done extremely well with Aston Villa. I would like to be friends with him."

If MacDonald were to get the job, he might be losing a couple of players as The People claim that former City midfielder Martin Jol is after keeper Paul Robinson for Fulham and former City defender Sam Allardyce is after Gael Givet for West Ham United.
