Callers to BBC Coventry & Warwickshire's Breakfast Show have been questioning why none of the roads around the Ricoh have names associated with the Sky Blues. So a campaign has been launched to get suggestions for alternative titles for the roads around Coventry’s new home to reflect that it IS the home of football in the city.

Director of City Development for Coventry City Council, John McGuigan hinted that the idea is something the council could look at in principle. After all, when the stadium was going to be called the Jaguar Arena they already named one road accordingly.

McGuigan told BBC Coventry & Warwickshire: “I’m sure talking to members they would be more than happy to consider it. “When Jaguar were very much associated with the arena, the new spine road leading onto the Tesco’s site is called Classic Drive – that was the whole idea of a sort of association with Jaguar in the background. "It is sometimes difficult to rename roads because the reality is business’ are established on those roads etc. But we can certainly look at it”.

Talking about the A444 which is called Phoenix Way when it runs past the Ricoh Arena, McGuigan added: “Whether it’s practical to think about parts of that from, say, the Holbrooks roundabout being renamed in some form or other, again, more than happy to look into that”.
