Football League clubs will receive around 25% less following the Football League agreeing a new television deal with Sky Sports.

The satellite television company are being reported as having paid £195m down from £264m to take over the deal in 2012/2013 that they current have along with the BBC who were unable to compete with Sky.

Sky will have live rights to 75 live Football League matches each season along with Football League Play-Off matches and League Cup games, plus Johnstone's Paint Trophy Final and at least two matches from the preceding rounds. Sky will also be able to broadcast highlights and clips of the Football League,

Football League Chairman Greg Clarke said to the Football League website: "Sky Sports is a highly valued partner of The Football League and we are delighted to extend our relationship for a further three seasons. They are a class act and our clubs will welcome their continued support.

"This has been a challenging climate in which to negotiate television rights, given the state of the economy and the lack of competitive tension in the sports broadcasting market.

"I am confident that our clubs will take heart from seeing such a significant ongoing investment in their competitions, despite a reduced level of broadcasting income, as it provides financial certainty in uncertain times."
