Lee Hughes has been released by Oldham Athletic. The former Coventry City striker is one of five players being released by Oldham boss Dave Penny in order to save costs.

Hughes joined the Latics after being released from Featherstone Jail two years ago and is now out of contract.

In order to save costs at the cash strapped club, Hughes, who was the best paid player at Boundary Park, was allowed to join Blackpool for the last couple of months of the season.
