Lee Hughes has been released from Featherstone Jail after serving only half his six year sentence for causing death by dangerous driving. A sentence which would have been more severe had he been arrested at the scene and not 36 hours later.

Disgracefully, the former City,West Brom and Kidderminster striker will walk back into football employment at Oldham Athletic and caused some Oldham supporters not to renew their season tickets. One told Covsupport: "I simply cannot support the signing of a killer and I don't want my season ticket money being used to pay his wages."

Whilst Hughes starts his new life, the family of Douglas Graham who was killed in the incident and a yar later his wife Maureen are still suffering.

Albert Frisby from Stoke Aldermoor who needs crutches or a wheelchair due to the injuries he sustained when Hughes' Mercedes slammed into his Renault, told the CT: "Hughes has served his sentence and is now free to get on with his life while he has ruined ours. "I could be dead before I receive any compensation at this rate."

During his time at Coventry City, Hughes is alleged to have been involved in a drug culture and is known to have told other players that "they will be alright taking cocaine as it is out of your system in 24 hours." He was later sold back to West Brom who cancelled his contract on hearing the sentence passed in 2004.
