Leaving City Was A Blessing In Disguise - Ogleby

Not being given a contract by Coventry City has turned out to be a blessing in disguise for Earlsdon raised Robert Ogleby.

The striker was released by City last season after coming through the club's Academy system and he joined Edinburgh based side Hearts, who unlike the Sky Blues, have a system in place which allows players aged over 18 to continue to develop with older age teams playing competitive football.

Ogleby, who hails from a family of long standing City supporters, came to the attention of Wales for whom he qualifies through his grandfather and scored in his second appearance for Wales U21 against Northern Ireland last Wednesday.

"It didn't work out for me at Coventry after two years as a youth there and I think it was a blessing in disguise for me to leave," said Ogleby to the CT.

"I'm really enjoying it at Hearts and the Under-19s are having a good season. "Now I want to start pushing myself and try to get into the first team."

Speaking about his goal for Wales U21's in their game at Wrexham, Ogleby said: "It was literally my first touch of the ball in the game and made it 2-0."

Speaking about Ogleby to the CT, City Academy boss Greg Rioch said:
"We are all chuffed to bits for Rob.

"He came back to see his old team-mates play against Leicester and we wished him all the best and to go on and get a goal was terrific.

"He is one of the nicer stories of a lad who didn't quite earn a contract at the club but is having a good crack at it in Scotland.

"It just shows what you can achieve if you are prepared to work hard and become stronger.

"When you are capable of running 100 metres in 10.5 seconds as a footballer you catch the eye but what Rob has also got is a great attitude and massive heart."
