League Is More Important - Boothroyd

Coventry City manager Aidy Boothroyd is placing more importance on the Championship than the League Cup this season.

City travel to Morecambe tomorrow for a League Cup 1st Round without Keiren Westwood and Sammy Clingan who are on international duty and the
City Boss said: "A cup run is not as important as a good league position, league always come first for me.

"Carling Cups and FA Cups are great if you have a run in them but nev er at the detriment of the league. The league must always come first and that is something we need to put right here."

Speaking about Morecambe who lost their opening game of the season at Wycombe, Aidy Boothroyd expects them to battle hard and said: "They got to the play-off final last year with a late run, they're a big side, they're an organised side and they will be a very difficult side.

"They're in a new stadium, sometimes that can be a problem for a team having moved away from the place where they play normally. But I think it will be a very difficult game and we'll approach it as I approach all games and we'll look to try and win it. We'll make sure we respect our opposition."
