Lack Of Urgency Was Worrying - Pressley

Coventry City manager Steven Pressley has said that he was worried by the lack of urgency his side displayed during their 2-1 defeat against Stevenage in their final pre-season game.

Speaking to the Coventry Telegraph's Alan Poole, Pressley said: “There was a lack of fluency and at times a lack of urgency today which was really disappointing.

“I said to the group at half-time that last night’s team looked like players who maybe thought they weren’t going to start the season so had a point to prove whereas today some of them looked as if they thought they would be starting the season.

“That was the difference in performances although, to be fair, there are a couple of lads who are still searching for their top fitness.

"We have to ensure that they’re ready for next Saturday and if they aren’t I’ll definitely have decisions to make –  there's no doubt about that because I want a fit, energetic team on the park.

“Our choices in possession were poor and not enough people took on responsibility – unlike last night when we really made things happen.

"In the end it was what I’d describe as a pre-season performance – and that’s not what I want.”
