Knee Injury For Ricketts

Last updated : 27 April 2016 By CNS Staff

Coventry City captain Sam Ricketts will miss the final two matches of the season.

The defender has a medial knee ligament injury which he picked up during the defeat to Doncaster Rovers on Saturday and speaking about this injury to the Coventry Telegraph, Mowbray said: “Sam’s done for the season.

“I think he has a grade two medial knee ligament injury which is six weeks, so I might be dusting off my boots.

“Both Aaron Phillips and Aaron Martin are carrying knocks but great credit to them they are putting their boots on."

Mowbray has said that Stephen Hunt may replace Ricketts in defence.

The Irishman played for City U21's against Brentford last week, getting better as the game progressed and speaking about him, Mowbray said:

“He’s been injured for a couple of weeks but he trained yesterday and he might come back into it.

“A couple of times he played he didn’t do himself justice, didn’t perform as we went through a bad spell and that didn’t help him.

“I signed him because he was a fantastic, chirpy character with really good quality and he’s fit again now. He didn’t make the bench at the weekend but he’s trained and might have to come back into the equation on Saturday and, if selected, I am sure he’ll come through all right.

“We have to decide what formation to play. Sheffield United are playing three at the back at the moment so we’ll see.”
