Former Coventry City forward Leon Best could be out for six weeks after injuring medial ligament damage during Newcastle United's 2-1 home win over Aston Villa yesterday.

Best went off in the 14th minute after a tackle by former Sky Blue Stephen Warnock, and Geordies boss Alan Pardew told Sky Sports; "It was unfortunate for Leon, he's done great for us.

"I was hoping that Leon would play for 65 to 70 minutes and do a job for us to get us in the lead, then we'd bring Papiss Cisse on to lift the place.

"Besty has hurt his medial ligament, and usually it's a six-week lay-off."
