Amid all of the doom and gloom surrounding Coventry City, it has emerged that Championship promotion hopefuls Cardiff City have approached Coventry City to enquire whether they would allow striker Marlon King to move to Wales.

With the cub in financial turmoil the board are likely to listen to any offers that involve even a small fee and as King is out of contract in September, he is worth a few pounds to the club at the moment.

King has been attracting attention from a host of clubs, all of which had hoped to acquire the striker for nothing at the end of his one year deal with Coventry City, but Cardiff want him now t boost their promotion prospects. Whether the near bankrupt Welsh club can afford to pay for King is another matter.

Stoke, Leicester QPR, Watford, and Nottingham Forest are thought to be chasing King's signature, but they wanted him next season fro free and now look set to lose out.

King's agent Tony Finnigan confirmed to Skysports.com that Cardiff have contacted Coventry.

He said, "There has been dialogue between Cardiff and Coventry, that is true. If the two clubs reach agreement, then talks may happen, but that is not up to us and Marlon is more than happy at Coventry."

"Marlon has been playing really well and since signing for Coventry has proven what a top striker he is. He is out of contract in the summer that is no secret, but neither has been his desire to open talks over a new deal."
