Aidy Boothroyd has said the Marlon King has been training with the City squad and is in very good condition and remains hopeful the 30 year old will decide to sign for the Sky Blues.

"Marlon's been training and doing a variety of tests and he's looking in good shape," said Boothroyd to the CT, "Other clubs are interested in him but the fact he chose to train with us suggests we are in a good position, but the sooner we can do it, or not do it, the better."

The question about signing King has divided opinion among the City support with some polls suggesting being slightly in favour of signing King and other voting no by a margin of two to one. Some fans have stated they will boycott games if King signs, others have said they will continue to attend games, but not cheer King, while others say sign him and let the goals flow.

Boothroyd, while admitting the King question is controversial, cannot avoid being biased in favour of the player he once managed at Watford, "It's a big subject and opinion is divided," admitted Boothroyd, but a lot of people have an opinion based on what's gone in the papers and sometimes that can be very one sided and life is riddled with politicians who try to use sport to make a name for themselves."

"Probably 85 per cent of people I meet would love him to come. A lot of fans I bump into ask me 'what are we doing, are we going to get him?' I've thought long and hard about this and I wouldn't be wasting his time, my time or anybody else's time if I didn't think that this person had something to offer."

"You can never please all of the people all of the time but my job is to improve the fortunes of this club. If I was afraid of breaking eggs I'd never make an omelette and I like omelettes!"
