Richard Keogh has been sent to Coventry City with the best wishes of Carlisle United boss Greg Abbott.

The former Republic Of Ireland U21's defender will complete a move to City on Thursday after City paid an undisclosed fee (£150k if you want to believe the rumours) for the 23 year old who will sign a three year contract.

Speaking to the Carlisle News and Star, Coventry born Carlisle boss Greg Abbott said: "Richard made it clear he wanted to test himself at a higher level and he's going to get the opportunity to do that at Coventry.

"He was brilliant for us in his two years here and we wish him all the best for the future."
