Last updated : 09 April 2015 By CCFPA

Coventry City Former Players Association are sad to announce the death of Ken Jones.

Ken was a Welshman born in Llanelli and in October 1949 he was brought from his home town club Llanelli Town (where he started playing as a youngster during WW2) to Highfield Road by legendary City manager Harry Storer  for what was a record transfer fee for the Welsh League at the time.

He made his Division 2 debut at Barnsley in SeptemberJones, K (Ken) b&w1951 and his last appearance for us was in a home defeat against Torquay United in April 1956.

In all, Ken played for the Bantams in 83 League games and 5 F.A.Cup ties (without ever troubling the score-sheet) before moving locally to Lockheed Leamington in close season 1956 on a free transfer.

Ken hung up his boots in 1958 and continued to live locally until his death. He was able to attend our very first Legends Day in 2007 and would have been 89 this month.

Ken’s funeral will take place next Tuesday (14th April) at 11.15 at Canley Crematorium, Cannon Hill Road Coventry CV4 7DF
