Coventry City keeper Keiren Westwood has said that he was delighted to make his debut for the Republic Of Ireland against Nigeria on Friday night.

The City keeper who was praised by number one choice custodian Shay Given said: "It was an absolute honour to make my debut so I'm very excited about the future. It was great that it happened for me and I've started my international career now.

"It's been a little bit strange for me this time round with the squad because obviously our season at Coventry finished a few weeks ago. But as soon as you get back into training you're straight back on it, so it was not too bad.

"I'm learning all the time and the training here is all about learning curves for me. It's a great experience and I'm really enjoying myself."

Westwood and Leon Best are training at Arsenal's training ground ahead of Saturday's game in Bulgaria.
