According to this morning's Mirror newspaper, Coventry City have been linked with a move for Carlisle United keeper Kieran Westwood.

Westwood has featured in the Republic Of Ireland international squad of late and played for The Cumbrians against the Sky Blues in the League Cup tie back in August 2007.

The paper claims that City will submit a £400,000 bid and that Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest are also interested.

With Dimi Konstantopolous with a long term inury and Andy Marshall touch and go as to whether he will be ready for the start of the season, City are looking for a number one keeper.

Wages are rumoured to be the stumbling block in Kasper Schmeichel joining the club. The keeper was loaned to City by Manchester City towards the end of the season just gone and did reasonably well. However, a number of other clubs have shown interest in the Dane and it may come down to wages offered as to where the son of the former Manchester United custodian goes.
