Keane Was An Idol Of Mine - Doyle

Coventry City midfielder Michael Doyle has admitted that new Ipswich Town boss Roy Keane is an idol of his.

"He was an idol of mine and I watched him when I was younger when I used to go and watch all the Irish games," said Doyle to the CT.

"But that whole team was great for Irish football when they started to qualify for tournaments from Euro '88 to Italia '90 and USA '94, which was Keane's first big tournament when we beat Italy.

"I am a bit surprised to see him at Ipswich but it is a massive club and they are getting good investment and it is obviously an attractive place for him to go to. "They have outstanding facilities as well so it is an attractive club.

"They did well in the Premier League for a couple of years and I am sure they feel that's where they belong, and they are making a bit of a statement by appointing Roy Keane who they will think is going to take them there.

"Everyone knows what his standards are and he's not going there to be second best. "He'll be going there looking to win this league next season."
